I believe that when the shop degreased the engine bay they left the pool of water in the valve cover where the ground strap is. This caused a temporary short and misfiring of cylinder 5.

Water on a ground won’t cause a short. Unless the water is also contacting a different circuit. That line of thinking is fundamentally wrong. Especially on a plastic valve cover.
However, if they pressure washed the engine, it's possible that water made it into a connector somewhere and did cause a short. Such as at a coil. This seems extremely likely if your misfire is only on one cylinder.

That makes sense. Coil 5 seems to be behaving now, the pocket in the valve cover was absolutely full of water.
